New Textile challenge :)

For your information - a new Textile challenge starts first of June and I may forward you the following text concerning the new challenge:

"Greetings to the Populace of Drachenwlad
I come forth to issue a Textile challenge
This challenge is specifically set towards those that have not had the opportunity to sew a garment/object by hand.
Sewers that are experienced in hand stitching items will not be excluded, but this is meant as a chance for those with no experience in this realm to get a start.
The Challenge I propose is that all persons joining the challenge pick a garment or object of textile nature, no matter how small or large, i.e. a pilgrim bag, a Coif or any type of hat, socks, flag, gloves etc., and have at least one form of documentation for its existence during the SCA time period.
Acceptable forms of documentation for this project will be paintings/woodcuts/drawings with the desired object in it or a picture of the desired object.
The challenge starts first of June and will end one year later. People can join the challenge at any time during this year.
A blog will be made where all participants can post pictures and descriptions of their progress (http://first-timehandsewingchallenge.blogspot.com/).

Report of Dragon's Needle Embroidery Guild - Drachenwald

Again a half year passed by since the last report and I was very delighted to see more of the inspiring sewing and embroidery projects the artists of our great kingdom make and share throughout the kingdom using the internet - please keep on sharing your work and inspiring others!

...and I also want to use this report to thank all participants of the "Something to keep you warm II" challenge (especially Mistress Anya Mstyslavyaya and Lady Jahanarabanu Vivana for their great support and interest concerning the realisation of this and other challenges), all participants of the "Dragon's Embroidery Workshop" blog and our regional guild heads who are doing a very great job - thank you all very much indeed! ...and last but not least a big thank you to all artisans who supported the (Pennsic) Queens Basket with one or more handmade gifts.

Thank you all for your work in the past or the future - it's great to be a member of such a great and gifted kingdom. :)

Dragon's Needle Embroidery Guild Head

I'm still here and working!

Well I've got the axe and pile complete, now I just have to go round and round and round! I'm really pleased with how this one is turning out so far! The stitches are pretty even. I just hope I can keep my patience and keep them as even and small throughout the rest. I've decided to embroider the roundels on smaller bits and then sew them on seperately. This means that I can go ahead and put tthe hood together. This was the main impetus for this decision. The cashmere hood I embroidered for Odo is rarely worn, because it's too warm 90% of the time. The linen counterpart should not have this issue!
